  • Be the Change You Want to See

    Funded Oct 4, 2021

I want to thank you all for supporting our first grade class project. All of the materials will be utilized to ensure student growth educationally, socially and emotionally. We have to work together to make sure this next generation is given all the resources necessary. As a village, we accomplished that!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hayes

  • #ChangingTheGame It’s Time for Change, So Let’s Make It Happen!

    Funded Aug 25, 2019

I want to first start by saying thank you for all of those that donated to my classroom. The students love the classroom and with all of the supplies, we have more then enough to feel at home. Some skills that are introduced to students are

monitor and clarify, predictions, ask and answer questions and a few more. Those are skills that are taught so that students can retell and understand the story. We also want our students engaged while reading and excited about what new ideas or knowledge they may gain. The curriculum for my students is pretty much set out for us but we can differentiate it according to our students. The text's that students are reading are designed to catch students eyes and ultimately teach them life lessons while learning to use strategies to reach an understanding.

Reading in my classroom is exciting and very animated. I love reading to the kids because I am very animated which helps students stay engaged and become eager to pay attention. When they read by themselves, they are making sure that their tone matches the punctuations. Sometimes they are so fascinated by the pictures that I catch some flipping through instead of actually reading.

I have a few readers that love to read and are excited about the collection of materials the we received. I did not get as many books and I wished but the books that we do have are very enjoyable by the students. Whens students have finished their work they can grab work to do or a book to read. I have a good handful that just love to read!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hayes

These materials will make a difference in my students learning because it will create an inviting atmosphere as well as vibrant colors to produce creativity. If the students are captured by visuals and the energy of the teacher, they are going to be eager to learn and be in attendance. As I teach different lesson plans based on the specific standards and curriculum I always integrate art and expression of self. It makes learning more comfortable and gives the students an environment to assist with finding yourself while gaining knowledge and being educated. I’ve seen the outcome and growth. I also have students that have never been able to express themselves and academically they lack because they are afraid to fail or be wrong. Sometimes you have to be taken out of a certain environment and placed in a new one in order for your authenticity to be discovered. Unfortunately, for a lot of the students it is shocking to find teachers and peers that encourage them and push them to rely on themselves to determine what you can do. It sparks something
