Students will use the materials to study mentor documentaries and podcasts about real-world issues and to create their own documentaries and podcasts. By giving access to the materials they might not have at home, all students will be able to create stunning projects, evening the playing field and helping give students practice in important real-world skills. This project will help my middle schoolers use their passion, compassion, and critical thinking skills to create cutting-edge documentaries and podcasts about the issues that inspire them. This class will help prepare students for 21-century technology skills and give them a voice in a world that often overlooks their voices and ideas because of their age. Students will be able to work alone or in small groups, signing out video cameras, microphones, or other materials to bring to life their vision! Students might interview members of the community, search for the "just-right" setting to create a mood, or record the sights and sounds of a significant setting.
