My students are eager to talk with each other in their lab groups about their experiment, their data, and what they are seeing, but they are oftentimes much more hesitant to share out with the whole class. My class makes regular use of group-whiteboards in lab discussions, for students to share their own data, their procedures, and their interpretations of the results, all the while receiving feedback from their peers in the discussion. These whiteboards allow students to take charge of their experiments, and their learning. By presenting their data to the class, they are the experts, and their peers are collaborators, all working as scientists to find the best ways of communicating their ideas. By donating to our project, you will help to ensure that the students can continue taking ownership of their data, share their models with each other, and work together as scientists to adjust and improve. With proper markers and materials to make use of the whiteboards, the students will be able to focus on sharing their data, and communicating with each other. With whiteboards, students will see that scientific models can be adjusted and improved, and will not be worrying about mistakes staying etched onto their presentation. In addition to using the whiteboards to share, draft, and revise their lab analysis, students will be able to make use of markers and colored pencils to properly display and present final results. Students will be able to analyze and organize data and models which make use of color, and they will be able to personalize their various engineering projects throughout the year.
