Each day, students come into the classroom ready to learn. However, learning differences or environmental situations that occur outside of the school setting may inhibit their learning and ability to focus. This may lead to frustration and strong emotions being displayed within the classroom setting. My hope is to provide each elementary classroom in our district with a calm down kit in order to help students manage their emotions and calm down. Please help me empower students to actively work on managing their emotions during the school day. With these calm down kits, I will work on helping students identify their emotions, warning signs, and triggers so they can better manage their emotions. Students will be able to calm down at the moment and return to learning more quickly than if they need to leave the classroom. My intention is to encourage students to use kits when they begin to feel strong emotions and help them feel proud when they are able to effectively manage their emotions.
