Help Bring Mindfulness, SEL, and Yoga to My Classroom!
Funded Nov 2, 2024Thank you so much for your support and generosity! The course from Breathe For Change was transformational. It has impacted my teaching in so many ways. My students are breathing to settle in to class and we have started practicing yoga postures as a way to focus and get ready for learning.
Throughout the course, I have had the pleasure to work with some amazing people in my cohort. We have met off hours to discuss and practice what we are learning. The opportunity to work with colleagues from across the country made me realize that we are all looking to do the best for the students in our care.
I have a difficult class with a lot of personalities and we are working on group murals. Last week the dean visited our classroom and was impressed that all students were engaged and working on the project. I am so grateful to your for giving me these tools.”

The Art of Penmanship
Funded Apr 2, 2024On behalf of our students and staff at Ronald McNair, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of penmanship supplies. Your support has truly made a meaningful impact on our students' learning and growth. The arrival of these supplies has transformed our handwriting lessons into engaging, hands-on opportunities for students to develop essential skills. For many of our students, these tools were their first experience with quality materials designed for fine motor skill development, and the difference has been remarkable.
Beyond the technical improvements in penmanship, your contribution has sparked newfound confidence and pride in their work. Several students have shared how they feel more motivated to complete assignments neatly.
Thank you for believing in the potential of our students and investing in their success. Your kindness reminds us all of the power of community support in shaping bright futures.
With deepest appreciation,”

Funded Nov 29, 2023When the students saw the paper and drawing supplies laid out before them, ready to create their portfolios, their reactions were awesome. They were so excited to chhose their favorite color of paper and use the markers! They were eager to get to work designing their portfolio.
As they worked on their portfolios they shared their ideas with each other, discussing colors and designs. They really loved creating their very own portfolio. Each portfolio is unique to them and they easily identify each others' work.
They have been using their portfolio to store their work and it has been a positive addition to our room. Thank you so much for your generous support.”

Funded Dec 11, 2022When introducing needle and thread to my students, I always tell them that this skill will come in handy some day--what if they are in a hotel and have a date to meet the President and pop a button. Will they know how to sew it back on to their pants? They laugh at the story but you never know what might happen!
Some say that needle work is a dying art--but not in my classroom. My students were so thrilled to see the hoops, floss, felt and beads! They are eager to try everything out and we have been working on threading needles and small stitches.
I am so happy to introduce this art to my students. They don't know it, but they are working on eye hand coordination and patience and learning a skill that will come in handy in so many ways.
Thank you so much for your generosity.”

Personal Portfolio Project
Funded Dec 11, 2022I would like to thank you for your generosity and helping me complete my classroom organization and storage project! My students were so excited to see all of the colors of papers for their portfolios and they love having the storage for their portfolios and sketchbooks. The neon paint was a big hit and they are having a lot of fun using it to personalize their portfolios.
They are working to design covers for their portfolio/folders. Each student now has their own folder and is responsible for keeping track of their work in the Art Studio. I am so thrilled that my students have a feeling of ownership as they take their work and sketchbooks out during class.
Thank you so much for donating to my classroom!”

Funded Sep 29, 2022This year marks our first year back together to experience our new normal. I was able to welcome my younger students into the art room and invite them to enter the room and find a spot on our new classroom rug. My older students like to sit on the rug after they finish their work and look at books and sketch.
The students love the bright colors and having their own rectangle to sit in that marks their personal space! We have used the design of rectangles and circles to describe shapes, colors and patterns.
Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. The rug is perfect for gathering young students together for lessons and older students to chill and relax after finishing their work. It has really added to the ambience of our room.”

Funded Sep 23, 2022I am so grateful to you for your help in funding my project, Sketchbooks for Student Artists. Students were able to build their sketchbooks from the materials we received.
Each sketchbook has a variety of pages that support my curriculum and help students record their ideas and practice new techniques. We are mid way through the year and already we can look back on all of the skills we have learned. Some of my students have asked for refills of blank paper because they love to draw and have filled up all of the blank pages!
Your generosity has truly made an impact on my students and has helped me provide a great tool for each child to use each day. It is my hope that they will hold on to thier sketchbooks and revisit them to review and look back on their growth over the year.
Thank you so much for your generosity.”

Funded Jun 2, 2022Now that the school year is underway, we have started using our 3D pens. The lower grades have been creating different kinds of lines with the pens. This is helping with their fine motor skills and hand and eye coordination. My upper grades have been having fun creating their names and learning how to use and take care of the pens.
I wanted to let you know how excited my students were when they learned that we had received the 3D pens! One class made a charging station and are great at keeping the pens ready for use.
We are just getting started learning about what we can create with our pens. I cannot wait to use them as we go through the year.
Thank you so much for your generosity.”

Funded Feb 12, 2022I am writing to thank you for your generosity. The Cricut machine has been a great resource in our classroom. My students were so surprised when they saw the box and found out that they could now create designs and upload them into the machine and have it cut them out for a professional finished product.
We have all had a great time learning how to use the machine and making our designs come to life. We have experimented with different papers and have made some fancy decorations for our classroom door and assemblies in our auditorium!
I am thrilled to be able to include this device in my curriculum planning for next year. We appreciate your generosity and thank you so very much!”

Funded Aug 12, 2021Students were so happy to receive the makings for their sketchbooks. They enjoyed constructing their sketchbooks--the children bound a combination of worksheets, graph paper, and blank papers into a book and chose colors to bind it, then decorated the cover to express themselves.
We use them each class to sketch ideas. My students are so proud of their creations and love to take them out to work in them. They fill them with drawings and use them to practice different techniques before working on a big piece.
I tell them that at the end of the year, they will be able to see how they have grown over the school year.
Thank you so very much for your generosity.”
