Empower Pages, Ignite Futures: The Game-Changing Book Drive
Help me give my students The Game by Walter Dean Myers—because every page they turn builds confidence, creativity, and critical thinking. Your support isn't just a gift of books; it's a gift of brighter futures and boundless imagination!
"Ghost Boys" provided a unique opportunity for me to facilitate conversations about empathy, social justice, and the historical context of racial prejudice. The book helped me foster an environment where students developed a deeper understanding of the real-world implications of these problems. It encouraged my students to examine their own biases and inspired them to be agents of positive change in our community.
"Ghost Boys" is an eye-opening and emotionally charged narrative that encouraged them to think critically about the world around them. It introduced them to the harsh realities of racism and violence, but also offered a message of hope and resilience. My students connected with the characters, especially the protagonist Jerome, and felt inspired to take action against injustice.”

Thank you for these resources to support my students post pandemic. My students were very surprised and excited to use the tools. These tools kept them safe and working; for that we are forever grateful. My students were able to do gallery walks, work in groups while maintaining distance, challenge themselves on the whiteboard challenges. I saw the joy back in my students eyes and it was amazing to see. Next steps for my students and the future students to come is simple...expression and safety with these items they will continue to exhibit safe habits as well as boost their confidence when they come up to the whiteboard to show what they know.”
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your heart felt gift to my students. When COVID hit I wasn't sure how I was going to be able to recreate the magic of my classroom virtually. So, I decided to ask for help from the generous donors of Donors choose and I felt beyond supported when my project was funded. The sounds of excitement from my students when I told them something special would arrive for them to recreate our classroom environment they could hardly contain themselves. I did not divulge what the gift was to add to their suspense. When the boxes started to arrive to my school I received an email daily to tell me my items were in the building for pick up. Unfortunately, the our building was closed due to COVID and I was on accommodation and could not return to the building to retrieve any of the materials. My students were bummed that they wouldn't be able to receive the materials they were looking so forward to using. So, I asked my office staff to take pictures of the items to share with my students. The looks of excitement I saw on my students faces when they saw the materials we would be using next school year was astonishing. I am in deep gratitude to all the donors that made this project a reality. We are now equipped with the resources we need to start the next school year off to a great start. I thank you so very much for funding this project and putting a smile on the faces of my students.”
These materials will help to create a sense of normalcy during this time when students are not learning in the traditional way. By providing a whiteboard for teacher use, you will allow my special education students an opportunity to actually see the materials in action.
Students use of whiteboards will give them and opportunity to physically show what they know when technological programs may not come naturally to them.
Furthermore, because our school population is heavily based within the shelter community the donation of pencils and books will give them the basic necessities to be successful this school year.
