  • TIME For Kids and BrainPOP for Some Great Students

    Funded Sep 11, 2024

Thanks to your generous donations from, I have been able to introduce TIME for Kids Magazines and Brain Pop into our reading curriculum, which has truly enriched the learning experience for my students. These resources not only bring engaging, current events to life but also help teach critical reading skills such as summarizing, identifying main ideas, and understanding non-fiction text structures. Through these texts, students are encouraged to make real-world connections, improving both their comprehension and analytical thinking.

Reading in my classroom has become an exciting and interactive experience. With TIME for Kids. My students are eager to explore articles on science, politics, and global events, which has helped spark meaningful discussions. Brain Pop complements this by providing fun, animated videos that break down complex concepts. Brain Pop has some great quizzes and activities that reinforce the material we are learning making it an essential in classroom learning. Several of my students, particularly those who were initially reluctant readers, are now gravitating toward the non-fiction and magazines. They are excited to share what they've learned with their peers, fostering a deeper love for reading. These new resources have made a noticeable difference, inspiring curiosity and confidence in my students.”

    Funded Aug 15, 2023

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support through DonorsChoose, which enabled us to acquire BrainPOP Jr. for our classroom. Your contribution has had a profound impact on our students' learning experience. With BrainPOP Jr., we have been able to delve deeper into various reading standards, such as main idea, compare and contrast, prefixes, and predictions. The engaging content and interactive activities have significantly enhanced our students' comprehension skills.

Furthermore, your donation has been instrumental in our writing project on Presidents and their roles. The resources provided by BrainPOP Jr. have made a remarkable difference in helping my students gain a comprehensive understanding of what it entails to be a President and the responsibilities that come with the job. • Did You Love Silent Reading Time?

    Funded May 9, 2023

We are thrilled to share with you the incredible impact your support has had on our students through this project. The introduction of new texts, such as "The Twits" and "Sideways Stories from Wayside School," has brought a wealth of skills and lessons to our classrooms. Many of our donors have a love for reading, and these texts have provided our students with opportunities to develop critical thinking, inference-making, and character analysis skills. By exploring the imaginative worlds created by these authors, our students have honed their creativity and expanded their vocabulary.

Reading in our classroom has been transformed with the addition of the lights and carpet purchased through your generous contributions. The reading corner has become a cozy and inviting space, fostering a love for reading among our students. The soft carpet allows them to relax and immerse themselves in the stories, while the warm lights create a calming ambiance. This environment has helped to cultivate a positive reading culture in our classroom, encouraging students to explore books independently and share their thoughts and ideas with their peers.

We are delighted to report that the new books have resonated particularly well with a group of students who have shown remarkable enthusiasm for "The Twits." This small group of avid readers not only completed the book in just two weeks but also engaged in lively discussions about the characters, themes, and moral lessons presented in the story. Their excitement and dedication to reading "The Twits" have not only improved their reading comprehension but also inspired their classmates to dive into the book themselves. The impact of these books extends beyond the classroom, fostering a love for reading that will benefit our students throughout their lives.

Once again, we extend our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support and belief in our students' potential. Your contributions have transformed the way our students engage with literature, providing them with invaluable skills and a lifelong love for reading.”

  • Some Awesome School Materials for Great Kids!

    Funded Nov 16, 2022

Due to your amazing contributions I have been able to do some really fun art projects with my students. We worked on some seasonal art projects so far and the kids loved being able to create holiday crafts for their families. I know the pastels will last over many art projects. The kids LOVED being able to use this medium since they typically do not have access to this kind of material. We created some fun pumpkins before Thanksgiving and they turned out great! The student personalities and creativity truly shined.

Also having great construction paper to use as a border for their work makes everything come together. Letting them see their master pieces come to life truly gives the kids so much more pride in their work. Seeing their final products posted within the class also gives them so much excitement and ownership over their work. Due to your donations these positive feelings and creativity have been able to show through.

Lastly, I had ordered some pens to help make corrections on student work. I know most students and people get a dreaded feeling when they see a red pen come out. However, I know my students appreciate the feed back and being able to see how to make corrections within their writing is essential in their improvement. I also love being able to write in encouraging words. So when my students see the pens come out they are happy to have that positive one on one attention. So even these little things amount to great improvements for my students and classroom! Thank you for your generosity it truly makes a world of a difference.”

  • Some Classroom Moral Boosters!

    Funded Sep 6, 2022

My students were so excited to see the boxes when they came with the materials bought with your donations. I had students clamoring to help set up the new chair, and were able to learn a few lessons about how construction of furniture works. Additionally, with the new fan set up it has been helping cool down some warm students! They are so much more focused with a little air. Lastly, the snacks that were purchased will be used for when the students have come to school without a breakfast or lunch. This will help them so much staying focused and happy at school. I have already had two or three students come without having had a breakfast so this will mean so much to be able to give them.

These resources are such good moral boosters. For example when I set the fan up for the students they were so happy. It also made them feel very cared about. One student asked, "how did you get the fan Ms?" And I was so happy to be able to respond with how it was donated to our class by my friends, and family, along with other people who care about their learning. They truly felt so special in that moment.

These items will really help my students because they are things that make them feel more at home within school. I love that I have a classroom that feels safe, and inviting to my students. Having things that boost their moral like a nice smelling classroom, or a more comfortable environment, makes a huge difference in their education. These amazing contributions will go a long way.”

  • New Class Computer

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

Having access to a laptop that works expertly is so essential in the current education system. Having used a school computer that is over 10 years old and faulty creates issues within the classroom. Now taking attendance, holding parents conferences on zoom, staff meetings or professional developments, or even creating and showing lessons is that much easier to do with my students. Our current curriculum has a multitude of resources that are accessible online only. For example my students need help with their vocabulary, and there are interactive vocabulary games online. Additionally, there are online libraries and allowing my students access to more technology makes it easier for them to read. They now have access to more books than my classroom library because of working tech. Having a computer that is easy to use, and can access the internet easier than an older computer helps immensely. My students can work on online work without waiting for their old computer to load taking up their learning time. We are as a whole class so grateful to have this donation.

Additionally, one may be surprised but having working technology also helps with classroom management. If the computer takes more than five minutes to get up and running, or is loading students are less engaged in the lessons being presented. Also maintaining thirty ten year old kids attention is no easy task. Therefore, having easy access to working devices is so key in keeping learning progressing.

Also my students get excited with new things, and when they know they are the first to use something they treat the items as if they are precious art. They feel responsible for keeping these things in nice condition. It is not often that they are presented with modern, and new items. So when it does it is pretty amazing being able to teach them how to be responsible and keep things in good condition. Once they are given this opportunity to show they can care for things they take it in pride. Even if I am out for a sick day and the students have a sub I know my students will care for our classroom and items because they value the space. Having working and items in good condition also lets them know their learning, time, and education is valued. These are some of the many reasons why this project is invaluable to my class.”

  • Class Laptop

    Funded Jan 8, 2021

Thank you so much for your contribution to my classroom. Your donation makes a big difference. Now my students have more access to technology. During this time it is so essential that they have working devices since most of our course work is computer based. This truly made a difference for our class so thank you!

Additionally, I meet with staff members weekly and need access to a working computer. The one that was bought for this project will allow me to collaborate with my peers better via zoom. My old computer/chrome book didn't allow me to connect as easily. This truly makes life a littler easier during these difficult times! Plus”

  • Books, Tissues, and Clorox

    Funded Jul 1, 2020

Thank you so much for your support. I know this year is so different. We started online and now are in person. More than ever staying healthy is of upmost importance. All of the cleaning supplies and items ordered on this list really have and will help us all stay a little more safe. My school site did not give us any PPE so having access to cleaning supplies such as the vacuum cleaner, or wet wipes makes a difference.

Additionally, there were some books on social justice ordered. More than ever it is essential for kids to understand how and why our society functions as it does. All of my students are Latin American or black. I ordered stories and literature that is representative of them. Also books like "Chocolate Touch" are engaging reads that that they can enjoy. Loving to read is a skill I hope to instill so they can become engaged thinkers. Due to your help they can now have access to literature they were not able to have before.

Lastly, there were some classroom decorations that were part of this order. This is an important aspect of setting a good learning environment. When things are organized and welcoming it makes my students feel more at ease. For kids coming back from home all the help to ease them into being in person helps. So thank you for all your help!”

  • Technology for Some Super Kids

    Funded Oct 16, 2019

Thank you for your unbelievable kindness and donation to my classroom. My kids are able to work in small groups/stations easier because of the technology they now have access to. We normally do not have enough working computers for our differentiated instruction. However, now that I have two additional chrome books for my class my students can easily work on their reading minutes or use the chrome books on educational projects. They are effective for keeping my kids working during their small group work, and allow the stations to exist.

Additionally, teaching is a job in which if you leave any time for kids to be idle you will lose them quick. They can begin to chat and lose focus. This aspect keeps me always on my toes and forced to be very engaged with my students. However, having such slow technology in my class was creating that exact problem of idle time. Waiting for something to load or work would detract from a lesson. Ten year old if not older technology was not working.

However, with a working screen that is modern and up to date the students can watch informational videos for lessons. We also love to do a free program that gets kids out of their seats for brain breaks and they dance to go noodle. Having good audio and visual from the Smart TV is the best for this! The kids are not only more focused after dancing but it creates a happier atmosphere in my class. It brings back fun and Incentive into a very structured school.

I appreciate all the help that my classroom received. My students are more successful because of your companies generosity. I will continue to work on donorschoose projects because of how successful this one was! I can continuously help my kids in their educational careers because of projects like this one.”

  • Learning Through the News and Online Resources!

    Funded Aug 27, 2019

Having access to materials like brain pop has truly made my kids excited about learning. So many of the activities on this site give amazing videos/visual clips that help my kids become more engaged in curriculum.

For example in the photos here we are learning about force, and not only read about it but saw examples through the explanation on this site.

You also can see some of our bulletin boards and groups for differentiated instruction. This really helps my students stay organized during this learning time. In addition, having the materials for the bulletin boards allows me to post their student work. The students are so proud to see what they have accomplished!

So thank you so much for your donation. Truly has impacted this amazing group of kids!”

I have taught second grade for seven years and found resources such as BrainPop and Scholastic News essential to their education. These programs were always paid for by our PTO or our school district. However, moving into a new school and state that does not have these materials available makes me want to provide my students with these amazing resources as well! I value teaching critical thinking skills and the ability to question "why," and I believe with these resources I can better teach my students these skills. If my students have the opportunity to learn about life going on around them through engaging literature or more easily understand a concept through educational videos and resources I want to give that to them. Videos in BrainPop really help break down literacy, and historical concepts that a mandated curriculum or youtube videos cannot do. The videos are engaging and well thought out, and it helps reach my visual learners. In addition, Scholastic News is another great resource that will emphasize standards in a more engaging way. I have used this resource in the past and found my students loved the higher level thinking projects this program provides.
