Hello! Thank you for taking the time to look at our project. I am a teacher for students on the Autism Spectrum in DCPS. The school I will be teaching at this year is a Title I school and data indicate that 100% of our students came from economically disadvantaged homes during the 2018-2019 school year. This is the first year we will have a self-contained, full-time Autism program, so we are in need of a lot of classroom materials and supplies. That being said, I am graciously asking for your support in building our classroom from the ground up by donating to fund our project. Although our students with Autism are in grades K through 2, a majority of them are academically performing below grade-level and would greatly benefit from supplemental materials geared towards building foundational math and literacy skills. Literacy skills that will be targeted in the activities and materials on our wish list include early letter recognition, phonological awareness, and building sight words. Math skills that will be highlighted include number sense and recognition, counting, addition, and subtraction. Please consider donating to help us successfully develop our program and to support our students' academic, personal, and social growth.
