Art is an opportunity for students to gain confidence and problem solving skills that can be used throughout their lives. In my classroom, we create this art using a wide variety of materials and subjects, which students love to explore and present. One material they have not had the opportunity to investigate and experiment with are fluorescent paints and oil pastels. Engaging lessons and most importantly, the materials presented to students, can make a huge difference in reaching and sparking creativity. By using a new media, fluorescent paints and oil pastels, students will be able to communicate and engage in their ideas in new ways. Students will be using the fluorescent materials to create art we will put into a "Glow Gallery" where, using a black light, the entire school community can appreciate and respond to new art. Students will gain a boost in creativity, experience, and confidence by using these new materials and showing off their creations!
