Learning Through Play
Funded Aug 16, 2023Thank you for all the phonics and math games. My first graders were so excited to receive our box. The kids are loving these new ways to practice skills in reading and math. We have used the addition log game to help us with our math facts. We have also used the splash reading game to practice CVC words and blends in our small groups. We have been able to use these resources in our small group centers as well as part of our purpose play block. The kids are so excited to use these toys and games every day!”

Funded Nov 30, 2021Thank you for your generous donation! My students are really enjoying the new phonics readers. I have been able to use these books to help my struggling readers with phonics practice. Finally I have books that are at their specific levels. The books have helped many of my students from learning CVC words to more complex phonic skills. I push to have all kids learn how to love reading. These books are really helping to make my struggling students feel successful and love reading!
I have one student in particular who loves to take out out the science phonics stories. She loves to read them every day! I love seeing her enjoyment each day in the books that you helped to provide!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and one other donor.Wiggle While You Work!
Funded Apr 30, 2020Thank you for helping provide wiggle seats for my classroom. I am so overwhelmed by the generosity of our donors and their desire to help my class this year. Due to Covid my students and I are currently learning 100 percent remote this year. I am so excited to use these seats when my students are able to safely return to my classroom. The plan for these is to display them in my reading nook area so that my students are able to use them while they are reading their books during small groups. I am hoping that this will be a reward for those who are reading quietly. It will also help the kids have more spatial awareness so that they are able to read without being too close to their neighbors. This will also be a great tool for my students that struggle to stay still when we are doing whole group instruction at our carpet. For example, when I am reading a story or showing a concept on the projector. This will help these students get their wiggles out without being super distracting to their peers.
I know that my students are going to be super excited when they see these wiggle seats in person . I was able to talk to them about the wiggle seats at one of our virtual class meetings and show them the seats we will be using in the classroom. They were in awe of all of the beautiful seats. They were ecstatic to know that so many people supported them and helped fund our project.
This year I am excited to see my students use these wiggle seats as we get to work reading and learning math. Having access to these seats will help empower students to have a positive attitude about learning and understanding diversity. That it is ok for others to have tools to help them to learn successfully! This is a great lesson to learn in the world we live in today. These seats will help them one day be respectful and character minded citizens of this world, that have sensitivity and tolerance for all people
Thank you for your support!”
