It is important for me to use a variety of resources in the classroom. As a result, I am aiming to supplement and make connections between our reading and social studies curriculums with this novel. Blood on the James River will help my students read about establishing the colony of Jamestown and be exposed to different points of view in United States history. Using a novel engages the students learning and enjoyment of multiple subject areas in a meaningful way. As a class, we can practice reading strategies and skills while learning about an event in our country's history in a fun manner rather than just reading articles or textbooks. Thank you in advance for your support!
