Everyone Has Genius
Funded Oct 31, 2023It is with great appreciation that I extend my sincerest thanks for your thoughtful contribution. My students have been so excited to have a unique learning opportunity with the use of the materials donated. As a way to foster social emotional learning, I have incorporated knitting projects in my classroom.
I believe everyone has a genius and it may not always been seen through academic performance. This project has impacted student learning by providing my students with a hands on skill that has enhanced their engagement and eagerness to try new things in the classroom.
My favorite question each week is "will we get to work on our projects today?" This project has allowed my students to find a new passion and develop their creative talents.
The materials helped me accomplish a sense of pride in my students. They were able to see the benefits of learning something new and celebrated their new successes.
To all the donors, words don't capture just how appreciative I am.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Almodovar

Funded Sep 21, 2022The 2022-2023 school year started off with much success when we heard our project was fully funded. Items started trickling into the classroom, and my students were eager to open boxes and utilize their new learning materials.
The students were most excited about the cozy blue chairs that would be used for small groups and flexible seating arrangements. Small group instruction has been our favorite time of day. Students scurry to our learning nook to get their chairs and lap desks, while I join them with a smile on my face, thrilled to see their excitement for small groups (or maybe just the cozy chairs).
The color printer has helped us all tremendously, especially the new ELL (English language learners) who were recently admitted from the Ukraine. These students rely heavily on pictures, therefore many of my lessons begin with an image and from there we build on our English by creating simple sentences that describe what we see, how they feel, prior knowledge, what surprises us, etc. The printer is available for the students to print on and use to enhance their work. Writing groups have been working on collaborative essays and have been able to use the printer to put together an informational essay.
Finally, the writing folders have been beneficial to us as we work through the steps of the writing process. I often find students referring to the supports provided in the folder, such as transition words, commonly misspelled words, and checklists.
These items along with all the other incredible supplies have jump started our learning and helps create a positive, successful and comfortable learning environment
From our classroom to you, please feel our heartfelt thanks!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Almodovar
