Each of my students have different, educational goals and objectives. All of these items will be used in creating task boxes and work bins for my students to promote independent learning and fulfilling their sensory needs. Task bins are created for student-led learning and to help promote critical thinking and creativity. Task boxes will be used to increase skills in the areas of language arts and math. Specific learning outcomes include phonemic awareness, phonics, sequencing, color and shape recognition, one-to-one correspondence, counting and increased independence. As a special educator, we often have to create most tasks for our students as they all have various needs and don't fit within many packaged curriculums. The task bins will also involve creating fine motor activities for students with fine motor deficits. Activities will include making shapes, letters and numbers, matching phonics based lessons and answering math number sense. The students also do tasks that involve laminated work where Velcro is utilized so that the work can be recorded and then returned to a bin for other students to complete.
