Our students and future members of society deserve to be able to wear clean clothes not only to school, but also to jobs that they have out in the community. Our students need to learn the basic skills of personal hygiene which includes wearing clothes that are clean, not only to school, but also to their workplaces. Many of our students are in Foster Care, they are homeless, as well as neglected. Having mental health needs is difficult enough at such a young age. They deserve to not only wear clean clothes on a daily basis, show up at their workplace in a clean uniform, but to also learn life skills that are crucial when transitioning into adulthood. Unfortunately, most of our students don’t have parents/guardians that help teach them these basic living skills. Therefore, it is up to us as educators, mentors, and therapists to teach our kids about personal hygiene and the importance of being able to wash/dry their clothes. Not only is this a basic necessity in life, but it will also impact their mental health goals and needs.
