  • Digital Tools for Record Keeping

    Funded Nov 11, 2024

On behalf of our Lower Elementary Montessori program, I thank you! These tablets will help teachers, students, and parents with organization, accountability, and sharing of images, emphasizing that we are all in this together. With one less hurdle in the way, the convenience you have helped provide with your donation is going to make a huge difference in our classrooms. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeWyke

  • The Library: Gateway to the World!

    Funded Oct 4, 2022

We are so grateful for your generosity that made this project possible. The students love reading, so having a cozy library space has been thoroughly enjoyed. There is nothing better than curling up with a good book under the glow of a lamp!

Having a diverse selection of books is important for so many reasons. I want my students to see themselves in the books we read, and now they do! Having culturally diverse literature allows for students to learn about people across the globe, not just the community they are part of. Having that cultural awareness will serve them well as they learn to be citizens of the world.

We are finding the Children of the World series of books especially useful right now as students are doing continent research. Seeing how other children around the world are very similar to them helps connect them in a way they have not previously imagined.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeWyke

  • Office Supplies and Desks, Oh My!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

We are so grateful for your generosity that made this project possible. The students love having their own selection of office supplies at the ready, which has aided in their independence tremendously. It may seem silly, but they were absolutely tickled to have their own stapler!

The additional work space provided by the floor desks has been invaluable. In our Montessori classroom, we love the flexibility of choosing where to sit and these desks aide in that effort. It offers choice and versatility that the students truly enjoy.

As the pictures show, students have also enjoyed having the colored tape and flexible measuring tape for spontaneous measuring projects. They took to measuring all of their classmates' height and creating a chart by the doorway. Not being hindered by lack of resources has allowed their creativity to soar!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeWyke

I'm looking forward to sharing this good news with our students and seeing their excitement as they begin research this quarter. Thank you!”

  • Listen and Learn Reading Station

    Funded Aug 21, 2019

I am overwhelmed with gratitude for your speedy and generous support. When they say educating children takes a village, they are including you! No small deed goes unnoticed in our village. My students are so excited for their listening station and to continue growing their love for reading. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. DeWyke

A love for books is fostered at an early age, and a love for reading begins in the lower elementary grades. While some of the younger students in our Montessori Lower Elementary class (grades 1-3) are not quite reading fluently, it doesn't stop them from picking up a good book! And what a joy it would bring to them to be able to enjoy a good book as they listen to a narrator bring it to life. Our "freedom within limits" belief in the Montessori classroom is honored in this model, giving the emergent reader access (freedom) while also requiring that they respect and care for the materials (limits) so that others can enjoy them just the same. By donating to our project, you'll be giving the gift of accessible storytelling and confidence to our emerging readers. This will allow them to follow along and practice reading classic stories, leveled readers, and culturally representative stories that will fuel their love for reading for years to come.
