My classroom community is in desperate need of books! We have fewer than 20 copies of books in the majority of our class sets, which have been used for many years. Many of the books are falling apart, and there are not enough for my students to take them home! Because of this, we are asking for copies of The Giver!
In terms of classroom instruction, the whiteboards in our classroom no longer erase - this is the biggest issue I am facing as a teacher. I would love to be able to write on the board and have students engage in that way as well, but right now I will have to scrub the board clean (not very effectively) every day after class. In addition to a new white board, I am looking to purchase a pad of self-sticking paper so that I can do gallery walks around my classroom.
Finally, I am looking to purchase bands for the bottom of chairs for my students. Staying focused in class can be difficult! Students love to move, and this is a fantastic way to keep them engaged while also complying with their need to move. I am so excited to meet my students, and I am thrilled to be teaching ELA this year - I just want the best for my students and classroom community!
