Puzzles for Playtime!
Funded Nov 4, 2023My class has absolutely loved getting the wooden puzzles that you helped us get! When they first arrived my students couldn't wait for me to unbox them and set them out for them to explore. We had to have a class community discussion to talk about how to treat them, how to use them and how we were going to make sure that everyone got a chance to play with them.
The puzzles are a favorite during Purposeful Playtime and often chosen for Free Choice time! This has been a great help with peer collaborative play and enjoyed also by themselves as a quiet time activity. Many students have said how much they wished they had wooden puzzles at home! They have made our class a fun and learning centered place. Thank you so much for making this happen for them!

All Are Welcome! A Request for Diverse Books
Funded Dec 3, 2019Thank you so much for the donations for my class to have a more diverse selection of books! a larger population of my students now see themselves in the books that I have available to look at in class for quiet reading time and to hear and see themselves in the books I read aloud to them.
I often hear now..."What is the next book you will read to us Mrs. Johnson?? I wonder who will be in this one?, Hey! That character looks like me!!" When I hear that my students are excited about books and getting to learn about others that look like them or feel the same way that the main character of the book does, I can see the joy on their faces as they relate and feel proud to be who they are!
In particular my students of color, mixed backgrounds, Native American and female students are seeing themselves represented as the hero's in the stories. This brings joy to them because they can see someone that looks like them can be successful, liked by others and a person to be the problem solver and that is priceless in my opinion.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Johnson
