Students get the most satisfaction from learning in a science classroom when they do hands-on activities. Comprehending the Universe can be challenging for students because the content is on such a large, unreachable scale. To better engage students I want to approach teaching through a hands-on, applicable, and edible format. Grasp the loose pieces of the Universe and swirl them together into a star! A cotton candy maker will help students watch spinning particles come together into a dense core of material, exactly how stars and planets form! Better yet, as students watch this happen they can eat the final result. Having a cotton candy maker will allow students to recreate the nebular theory in a hands-on engaging lesson.
