The technology currently in my classroom is lacking, to say the least. A broken Promethean board, a super old-school TV (think large, boxy, and staticky) with a separate DVD player, and an old projector that is thankfully still functional... for now. However, none of this equipment will suffice to meet the unique challenges this school year is already bringing to light.
As of today, early August, our school is planning to offer both in-person and virtual distance learning to students. As a teacher, I will be teaching from my classroom to any students physically present as well as those students who opt to learn virtually. Of course, this could change any number of times, and at any time, before the campus opens to students in mid-August. By bringing this updated technology into the classroom, I will be able to meet students' needs whether they are physically in the room or learning from home. Additionally, students will have a much better option for sharing their work with the class as well as being able to see their classmates at home.
This TV and its connectivity options will allow all students to clearly see the screen from anywhere in the classroom, and it will allow us in the classroom to see those students who are joining from home via the meeting platform. In the event that we switch to 100% virtual distance learning, I will be able to clearly see students' faces when they join the online classroom from home.
Please help our classroom get this awesome interactive TV! This will be a huge help to students in this unprecedented time.
