Engaging Speech Therapy
Funded Jan 6, 2023It made me so happy to see that my project had been fully funded. I was not actually expecting that at all. I received an Ipad, which I have used during many of my speech therapy sessions. My students are very excited to use the speech games on the ipad to work on their speech and language goals. Rather that just giving them a boring black and white worksheet, they get to use games with colorful pictures that provide music and sound when the child gets the right answer. Using the ipad has made the students more motivated and engaged. Thank you so much for making this possible!”

Funded Dec 27, 2020The digital speech and language materials that you helped sponsor have been incredibly helpful during this period of remote learning . I have been able to keep my students engaged during therapy sessions because the games and materials are exciting and colorful . It means a lot to me to know that you cared enough to donate your money toward this cause . It makes me feel like what I do is valuable to you . Many of my students have difficulty focusing, especially when sessions are not in person so these materials really made a difference !”

Going Remote Requires New Digital Materials
Funded Sep 9, 2020Thank you so much for providing me with the digital materials I need to keep my students engaged during remote therapy sessions . It isn't easy to keep the attention of a young child with special needs , but these games and materials help tremendously. Thank you for the monetary donation and also for showing me that you value my work . They are both appreciated. This has been a very difficult time for all of us . Some of my students rarely go outside and have very little connection with the world now . I'm happy to be able to connect to them and make them happy with engaging and exciting materials”

Funded Dec 13, 2019Thank you so much for providing me with a printer. I was really not expecting my project to be funded so quickly. As a speech therapist, I do not use textbooks, so many of my materials are printed. The printer that I had in my room broke, and was very unreliable and constantly jamming. I really needed a reliable printer, not just to print materials, but also to print documents such as IEPs, attendance pages, etc.
Getting this printer, along with ink cartridges was such a relief. I no longer have to worry about whether or not my printer will be in the mood to print. The scanner and printer options have been very useful as well. I can copy pages from books to send home with my students for homework.
I am very appreciative of your donation, and so are my students.”

Speech Therapy Materials
Funded Aug 23, 2019Thank you so much for donating sequencing cards and word flip books for my speech therapy classroom.
I work with speech and language impaired students who often have very limited expressive and receptive language abilities. I use the sequencing picture cards to prompt students to formulate sentences to describe each picture and use transitional terms such as "first, next, then, last". Sequencing picture cards teach the foundational skills for students to be able to describe things like what they did over to the weekend. It also lays the groundwork for the students to comprehend expository text. My students love the stories depicted in the cards, especially the ones that connect to nursery rhymes. And I love the ones that involve real-life tasks such as baking cookies.
I am using the word flipbooks to teach word families to students who are delayed in their reading skills and are learning to blend sounds. The pictures that are next to each word are great support, and make the reading less of a burden.”
