Phonics for My Bilingual Kids!

Thank you so much for the phonics materials that you helped buy for our classroom. We love the new supplies. Thank you for caring enough about us to help us learn.

My students are using the new resources virtually and in person this year. Due to the pandemic we haven't been able to work in groups a lot, but my students individually work in the activities and they love them. They enjoy the hands on learning by using the Teaching reading skills activity centers. The activities are helping me use differentiated instruction that go from making small words to writing complete sentences. These supplies are making a difference in the way my English language learners learn phonics.

When we first got the box of materials my students were very excited to discover each activity in the box. I sent the interactive phonics journal to my virtual students, they love to cut and glue each activity. They are learning word families, blends & digraphs, and silent ending sounds. They can't wait to use them everyday. When I tell them "get ready for your phonics centers or get out your phonics interactive journals" they scream "Yeahyyyy". I enjoy when we use the activities because of the student engagement, the phonic sounds (that the students make), and most of all, that I know that they are learning English.

The next steps for my classroom is that my students advance in their Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) test that is coming up next month. This test will rate their English in their four domains, listening, speaking, reading and writing. These supplies are helping with all 4 domains. I can't thank you enough!

My plan for the next few months is to apply for another project, one that I can give my students good prizes thanking them for their hard work this year, and of course continue using all the phonics materials all this year and years to come.”
