  • Learning in a Student Led Classroom

    Funded Apr 18, 2021

Thank you all so much for your loving support in building my classroom environment to help all students. It has been almost a year now and we have really enjoyed the flexible seating and table. The seating has been a life saver in keeping students moving and learning at the same time. I had students that would normally need to leave the classroom because they have become too disruptive. With your generosity and support I have had students that struggle take a break get a new seat that moves and it has calmed them down so they focus once again.

I conducted a research project along with my flexible seating and it actually helped my students' grades go up by over 30%! Students achieve more when they are in a comfortable learning environment that meets different needs. I love how I can have a whole child approach to my teaching style.

Currently my students this year enjoy all the seating and table options. We are doing great and my next project will be focused on smaller additions such as hand to mind brand math enrichment manipulatives for the classroom. This will be adapted in our math centers so students can learn with more concrete hands-on materials.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hansen

  • Learning is Coming to Life as we Build Together

    Funded May 21, 2021

Thank you for your amazing support giving to our classroom! Our class has the opportunity

To all work together as a team. Students had a moment when putting together a tower they had to use critical thinking skills to solve problems. I witnessed students working together and building strong connections and friendships.

When the supplies first arrived my students had smiles from ear to ear. Some jumped up and down asking when we got to open it. Our classroom has forever changed because of your generous donations. Teaching with hands on is more engaging for students in the classroom and has helped so many students feel more comfortable in an education enviorment.

Thank you again for becoming a part of our classroom. As a first grade teacher my next steps include gathering more concrete school materials that teach social and emotional skills to my students. I am focusing on a whole child approach in myu class and look forward to my next project.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hansen

Flexible seating helps students become more comfortable for a long day at school. Students with ADHD/ADD and behavior issues struggle to sit still all day and concentrate during class. Six-year-olds may also want to move around more. Sit in a chair that will improve his/ or her posture. Flexible seating also gives the student a choice to have different seats if they need to move around. I want to add two active kids wobble chairs and a table that four students can sit around. My goal is to revitalize my classroom one project at a time. To do this, I plan on embracing a student-focused learning environment. I would love a calm, creative classroom-based on every individual's needs. My students are great kids and deserve to be comfortable and focused on learning. The flexible movement will help my students to concentrate more in class with diverse seating. Students that need rocking during the day will benefit from the flexibility from an uncomfortable and distracted student that may be unproductive during the day to finding a comfortable spot that fits their needs best. Flexible seating options stimulate the students' sense of touch, helping students who struggle with ADHD, ADD, and ASD.
