As we head into distance learning, I want to give my students the opportunity to see their classmates and teachers as much as possible. As the physical education teacher I have such a great opportunity to capture content from so many students and then share and use it as a tool to build community while students are at home. During the course of the closure last year, I asked students to demonstrate their understanding of different exercises by uploading pictures, videos, and drawings of themselves participating in everything from daily workouts to a virtual 5K. I then took those submissions and made them into new and exciting weekly workouts for my students. Every time we used one of these videos, my students' reactions were all about how happy they felt to see their friends and how it helped them feel like they were still together. This was not only a way for me to assess their learning and understanding about specific types of exercise, but I could create new and meaningful content so that my students could still feel connected to their classmates while they were at home. The work was also uploaded via seesaw so that students could comment too. It was my pleasure to create these videos, but I had spent many hours capturing, editing, and creating these learning experiences with the use of an older model iPad or transferring from one to another. The amount of time it took, only allowed me to create one video per week. The use of this iPad will allow me to make many videos that can be used during this time and then it can be used as a technology integration tool in the gym whenever we are back in person.
