Photography Inspiration
Funded Nov 13, 2016My students loved the portable printer that was funded through donors choose. They are now able to display their creativity within the classroom. With all of the overwhelming stress from the New York State ELA and Math tests this has been very therapeutic, relaxing, and rewarding experience for them.
One of the most exciting things for them is to watch as their photos are being printed right before their eyes. A memory or experience that they captured on film is then processed through this printer and immediately displayed on a class bulletin board. Even students who have had differences with each other are able to collaborate on these artistic projects. This device has definitely fostered creativity, but more importantly it has taught acceptance of each other. We are all very excited to continue using this in our classroom.”

Photographers for Life
Funded Mar 26, 2015I can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your donation to my project. It is great to see that you share my vision for reaching children in a new way. Through photography we will be able to foster our student's creativity and motivate them to learn through a new strategy! In the classroom students who may not have been gifted musically or in art can now express themselves in an entirely different way.
The students are most excited about capturing special moments in our classroom. They use the camera to document celebrations and photograph each others projects. They are very excited about this new option in the class.
Students who were initially shy in the beginning of the year have started to organize photography contests in our room. They have all flourished and worked in a variety of groups to complete certain challenges. It has greatly boosted the moral in the classroom”

4th-Grade Photographers
Funded Nov 19, 2014We are so grateful for your generous donations. The students were ecstatic when the photography equipment arrived. Some students compared seeing and opening the box to opening presents on Holidays. I know that they value this very greatly and use it consistently.
As a class we have learned about digital cameras and explored the art of photography. Students were able to create photos for family members as well as decorate our classroom and bulletin boards with entertaining photos. I can see a sense of passion when they work in groups on projects and they are making connections with each other.
Not only do the students have assigned projects with camera but they also use it in the classroom to acknowledge each others accomplishments. If someone brings in a great project or finishes typing a report they photograph each other to help document their success. The camera has greatly motivated my students and given them another outlet to express themselves.”

Engaging Students Through Technology
Funded Jun 1, 2013My students were ecstatic when we opened the package in our classroom, I even invited some of my students from last year since they helped me write the grant. They compared school that day to a holiday and asked if we could write more grants for technology to help them learn.
Teaching in a high needs school with special education students can be challenging, but the addition of technology definitely helps. This iPad has helped engage and motivate the class to work harder, whether it's used as a reward or teaching instrument. Students who also have difficulty using a pencil find it much easier to type on the user friendly touch screen when publishing their final writing pieces.
Although I have not completed any formal assessments yet I can see how much of an improvement it has made in my classroom. Technology has acted as a catalyst in my student's journey through fourth grade. We look forward to writing more grants and sharing our success with other teachers and classrooms in our school!”

Help Our Class Learn to Communicate with Other Cultures!
Funded Dec 5, 2010Our class would like to thank you so much for your generous donations! Without your contributions this project would have never been possible. We greatly appreciate the opportunity you gave each of my students by funding the Rossetta Stone Software. They look forward to working with this program each week, and it has really been an excellent addition to our multi-sensory learning centers.
Our class thoroughly enjoys learning Spanish. Now that we have received a long awaited Smart Board the students can work together to help each other learn this new language. This program has helped them become more proficient in English, made other content areas such as cultural studies more interesting, and greatly improved our learning center.
Like I stated before, thank you so much for your generosity. Without your help classrooms all over the country would not have the possibilities that your donations have afforded us. ”
With gratitude,
Mr. D'Alessio
