    Funded Mar 31, 2022

Thank you for your contribution to my athletic project. I have written to you in request to support my students basketball team. This is the first time since Covid that our students had a basketball season since. At that time supplies have been misplaced and no where to be found. Thanks to your support we now have the basic essentials that help prepare my athletes for an exciting basketball season.

My students were extremely excited to begin the sports season. However it was disheartening to not have enough supplies for them to fully engage in the program. I am so grateful for your generosity in support of the physical growth and development of my students.”

    With gratitude,

  • READ Around the WORLD

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

On behalf of myself and my students we would like to extend the greatest form of gratitude for your thoughtfulness and generosity. With this project you have been able to fully fund my Social Studies classroom library. In our school social studies has just beyond to be taught as an independent course separate from English class. Due to this we have no resource relevant to exploring history.

This project has brought a library to our classroom that spans from biographies of historical figures, variety of informative texts, geographical reading texts and current events subscription magazines. With these gifts students have found interest in readings that directly relate to current events, holidays, and important events in history.

In my classroom students are learning about Ancient History and US history and in these topics student have been exposed to literature that directly connects to the history that has brought us to where we are today. Students who once a had no interest in history or had any exposure now look forward to learning how past history has influenced current events.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Galletto- Edmonds

  • Science News Creates Good News in School

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

Thank you for your thoughtful gifts. These materials have brought fun and innovation to my classroom. Upon delivery of these materials students were so excited to open the packages and get to work. We have used the markers and chart part to illustrate our understanding of science content. Students have begun to think outside of the box and use the markers to write on the desk without getting in trouble, at which they find to be the most fun of all. I cant thank you enough brightenting my students day!”

  • Spacious, Comfortable, Cool, Flexible Learning Environment.

    Funded Aug 17, 2019

Tables are setup and in Great demand. When students arrived they were so excited to see these shiny new tables. Their response was where did you get those? They are so tall? Can we use them? Then, students sat at the tables and immediately they said I feel like I'm at Starbucks! That's when it dawned on me, lets bring Starbucks to the classroom! Thanks to your donation we now have Starbucks Friday's in Mrs. Edmonds' Science class. So on Starbucks Friday one luck student from each group is allowed to go to "Starbucks", and while completing their assignments they can choose a beverage and a pastry as a reward for the week.

So far students have been using the "FLEXIBLE TABLES", for breakfast, a quiet spaces, research space, and "Starbucks Fridays". My Class size is 32 and at a lab table it can get very cramped. Students have asked to sit at the tall tables to concentrate on their work, or research using the library. Since tables are in high demand, students have been using them to complete written assignments away from the mess of lab investigations.

I have also been enjoying the "Tall Tables". Conferencing with students is an important part of their progress. Weekly I have been meeting with individual students on their weekly progress in this space. Sitting at these tables are comfortable and intimate for students to confide in me one on one; without their peers judging them. I have found that this strategy is working well and I have continued to using this space as our meeting space.

Thank you tremendously for believing in my vision. Middle school students are extremely difficulty to buy into corny ideas. Having the "Tall Tables" in class has made them feel mature in some way and in turn they have found Science Class COOL!! I guess that means I'm cool as well!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Galletto- Edmonds

Picture this... sitting in a science lab at a table crammed together with four other middle school students in a class of thirty students, while engaging in project based learning. Students to the left of you are engaged in scientific discussion based on observations. To the right, others are conducting investigation manipulating materials, measuring materials constructing with material, just making a mess. You are trying to complete a lab report in a cluttered and chaotic environment. Now, do you feel very productive? I can imagine this is how my ninety students feel daily. I am finding myself struggling with my classroom space. Daily, I have to remind my students as well as myself to be mindful and respectful of others space in this constraining learning environment. This year, I'd like to introduce flexible seating options to my students allowing them the comfort of learning in their own unique space throughout the classroom. I'd like to organize my classroom for areas of computer accessibility. I'd like to offer smaller table and grouping areas for English language learners who require smaller settings. I'd like to create a safe, comfortable and cool space where learning happens naturally, as my content of science does.
