My classroom consists of different corners and areas, each designated with a specific purpose. The first is the teacher table where I get to have small group sessions with students in order to really get a feel of what they're struggling with and what I can do in order to mitigate their struggles. I would love to be able to have flexible seating at my table in order for them to feel free and welcome, all the while being fully engaged in their learning. The second area of my classroom is our morning meeting rug. On this rug we meet briefly every day in order to share what goals we have for ourselves and even get to share how we are feeling. For this area I would also use flexible seating to help them feel more comfortable and eager to share their thoughts and feelings. Third would be our calm down corner. This is a very special and important corner where I intend to provide them with an area and a chance where they can cool down if they are angry or frustrated or cheer up if they are worried or sad. Needless to say, flexible seating would provide comfort in such an area. Lastly, each groups table. I group my students into four different tables, each table having between 3-5 students. If I could have flexible seating for them I believe it would make the classroom so much more fun and involved for every single student in the room.
