  • Enhancing Brain Stimulation

    Funded Sep 30, 2024

Happy New Year and thank you for your donations which have helped improve the social and emotional interactions in my classroom. Students are using the emotions spots to identify their feelings and problem solve ways to deal with their emotions.

The headphones have given students easy independent access to listen to texts of their choice and to record themselves as they read texts aloud. Also students that get test read to them can listen independently to questions read aloud at their own pace with minimum distractions and interruptions.

Once again thank you for helping supply my students with the tools they need to grow academically and socially.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Johnson

  • Captivating Library and Bulletin Board Reimaging

    Funded Sep 26, 2023

The library and bulletin board resources have been greatly appreciated by my students.

Students have a sense of pride when choosing books to read. They are learning to be responsible readers by signing out the books they want to read, taking care of them while reading and returning them to the library after reading.

The bulletin boards have given students an opportunity to display their work in an aesthetically pleasing way as they make their learning visible to the school community. Their displays reveal the learning process as well as the finished products. I have also been able to print students published work in color.

Thank you very much for supporting the educational needs of our students.”

  • Growing Brain Muscles!

    Funded Dec 31, 2022

Thank you very much for funding this project I have used the printer to print supplemental materials that students need to differentiate student resources as needed.

The most exciting part for my students is using the document camera during classroom presentation to share their work. It makes it easier for the class to see the work being presented more clearly. We have also been able to print our published work in color to show piece our efforts on our class bulletin boards.

Some students will ask that we play the academic games before or after a lesson so as to connect what they are learning with the games.

Students sometimes refer to the displayed visual charts when sharing their thoughts or explaining something to the class.

I often encourage students to use the visuals in the room to support their learning and it has been an effective tool used to enhance learning in the classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Johnson

  • Snacking Sensation

    Funded Dec 20, 2022

Thank you for funding this project. My students are using the resources you provided to stay focused on learning with less focus on hunger and thirst during class time.

The rewards students get as class incentives for being proactive in their learning, helping each other and completing tasks has increased classroom participation and task completion. Students earn points for their efforts and based on the number of points they earn they are able to choose rewards from the class treasure chest.

When my students first saw the materials their eyes lit up and they could not wait to sample the drinks and snacks. They had a variety of snacks and drinks to choose from. They also wanted to earn enough points so that they could choose rewards from the treasure chest.

The next steps for my students is to eat more healthy snacks and drink less sugary drinks. They are also motivated to engage in learning, earn points and choose rewards.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Johnson

  • Keep Fit and Active

    Funded May 14, 2019

Thank you very much for supporting this project. Our students were very excited to receive the new sports resources and were beaming with joy. They used the speedometers to track their steps and competitively shared and compared the rates of progress they were making.

They have been proud to wear the shorts and other sports gear during practices and track and field competitions. It has given them a sense of identity, and improved team spirit.

Students will continue to use these materials in future track and field events. They will continue to be motivated by the progress they are making, as well as gain more confidence in themselves as athletes.”

  • Student Empowerment

    Funded Dec 29, 2018

Thank you for making it possible for families to stay involved in our classroom learning and support student achievement.

The Powermylearning family playlist has short easy to follow home activities based on topics students have been taught in school. The materials sent are mobile friendly, safe and secure.

Students become the teachers at home, teaching family members the skills they have learned in school. The adult family member sends photos and or quick feedback about the experience. The feedback helps me evaluate my teaching and become more responsive to the needs of my students.

I have also noticed that students working with family playlist have developed more confidence in their schoolwork.”

  • Meeting Student Needs

    Funded Dec 27, 2018

I want to thank you for funding the printer and paper for my classroom.

These materials have given students more differentiated materials to access learning.

The printer/copier have been helpful in supporting students accessibility to materials they need to meet their specific needs and become successful.

The differentiated materials have allowed students to take charge of their learning and get access to choices that work best for them. During independent classwork time students are able to choose materials they are able to do.

The colorful differentiated learning materials has been an essential component in motivating them. Students have been more excited about learning and I have seen a reduction in frustration and acting out. They have also been able to complete more tasks successfully.”

  • Digital Inspiration

    Funded Dec 10, 2018

Thank you for making it possible for my students to be able to work better independently.

My students are very excited to use the headphones and computer mouse you funded. The purchased items were delivered and made available to my students immediately. The headphones provide students much comfort and privacy as they listen, learn and practice math and English language skills. The headphones also give students best surround sound and it is healthier than ear buds/ear phones as it eliminates the spread of ear infection.

Also, they can work independently without distracting their classmates.

Students use the mouse to scroll up and down their computer screen content. It has made it easier for them to highlight information they need to respond to questions or to review content read. They have also learned how to connect the mouse to their computers and how to take care of this accessory so that it will be available for other students to use later on.

These tools have enabled students to become more engaged in their learning and become more responsible and accountable with the computer tools you provided.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Johnson

  • Read Focus And Succeed

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I want to thank you for the generous donations you made to my class project Read, Focus and Succeed. My students are thrilled and excited to receive and use the items you funded.

The students use the leap readers to read independently or with a partner, they use the pen to point to the text as they follow along and listen to the text as it is read. They also use the pen to complete reading response questions about the text, complete puzzles, word searches, and other related word work.

Students use the cushions during independent reading or when playing educational games on the rug. They love the different characters on the cushions and associate them with different emotions.

The male students are more interested in the connecting rods and have used them to construct different designs such as trucks, buildings and other imaginative designs. It sparks their creativity and keeps them actively engaged.

Students learn more about natural habitats, animals, continents and oceans, as well as taking turns, sharing and supporting each other when using the leap reader games.

These tools have not only increased students content knowledge, it has also increased their attention span, and continues to help them learn to be patient as they share and take turns using these donated items. ”

My students are special education third and fourth graders in a Title 1 Public Elementary School with many challenges. They are mostly visual and auditory learners with inquisitive minds and outgoing personalities. However, they have a very limited idea of the outside world. Even though they are eager to learn, they have a very short attention span and the iPad will aid in maintaining their interests.
