  • Senior Sendoff & Celebration

    Funded May 14, 2021

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity! I can't wait to start making these souvenirs for our 2021 Senior Class! I'll be sure to capture the moments and update you with fun pictures of our graduating class. They've worked so hard and persevered in the middle of a pandemic and, thanks to you, they get to walk the graduation stage knowing that the community cares. You are incredible!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Melanie

Wow, just wow! Thank you so much for funding this project for our students. I can't wait to let them know about all the extra materials they'll get when working in the mental health room! Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity - it is truly appreciated. Once the kids have access to these awesome sensory objects, I'll submit pictures of the fun they're having. Thank you, again, for your altruism and funding this progect for our students!”

  • Creating a Safe Space to End the Mental Health Stigma

    Funded Sep 24, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity! Our students have been having great fun using these materials during small group counseling and individual counseling. As you can probably see in the photos, our students were so excited to open up the multiple boxes to find such great tools, games, and books for their mental health room. These materials have helped our students with de-stigmatizing mental health for teens, have helped them learn how to have vulnerable conversations with their parents and teachers, and helped them to understand that they are not alone in their journey. Truly, we appreciate your kindness. You've made our little mental health room a space where kids want to be, where they feel safe to explore their thoughts and feelings, and where they can connect easily to others who might feel the way they do. Thank you, again, for everything.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Melanie

Research demonstrates that students who receive social-emotional and mental health support achieve better academically. School environment, classroom conduct, academic motivation, and students’ sense of awareness and welfare all improve as well which is why we have developed the Mental Health Department within our school. Students will have access to a safe and confidential space where they can feel supported while they navigate healthy social, emotional, and behavioral development. Since our school has recently changed campuses - we have found that our mental health rooms do not have access to air conditioning. This is why I have requested a portable air conditioner to allow our students to focus on self-care and healthy mental health practices in a cool and air-conditioned environment. Using the books, worksheets, art supplies, and therapy games, students will work with a licensed psychotherapist individually and in small groups on topics including; but not limited to: Conflict resolution skills, Effective communication & assertiveness, Responsibility/Accountability, Self-esteem & Self-awareness, Leadership skills, Bullying/Cyber-bullying/Social media, Healthy Relationships/Boundaries, Depression management/Positive self-worth/Cognitive Distortions, Anxiety/Mindfulness/Stress management, Stages of Change, and Healthy coping mechanisms.
