Sowing Seeds for Academic Success

Please accept my heartfelt thanks for your generosity. With your financial support, I was able to purchase Lakeshore Learning's Early Learning Interactive Software Bundle for my students. This may not sound like a big deal to you, but it's made a HUGE impact on the learning that takes place in my computer lab!

As a technology cluster teacher, I service just about all of the students in the building. Their grades range from pre-kindergarten through grade five. Providing the pre-K and kindergarten students with web-based computer activities at their level is often challenging. Many of the online activities that are available to us have activities that are often inappropriate with regard to their fine motor skills. Most of the younger students are still trying to figure out how to use the mouse properly without closing the activity that they are trying to complete. The activities included in the software are very easy to navigate and difficult for them to close out by accident. The students really look forward to using these games in the technology lab.

The software bundle has also helped me service my students with special needs. Many of them are functioning significantly below grade level. Simply assigning students interactive math quizzes online after a lesson is good reinforcement, but not very engaging. However, applying what they learned to win a computer game is far more exciting and meaningful for them! The latter experience will definitely help them to retain their learning far better.

I wish that I could have sent you pictures of them using the software. Unfortunately most parents did not sign our photo and video consent form. However, I hope that their thank you letters and pictures warm your hearts and are evidence that your generosity truly made a difference in our school community.
