  • A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words!

    Funded Apr 23, 2021

Thank you once again for helping out in the inner city of Bridgeport, CT and giving my students more opportunities than they could have without your help! The children are super happy about these materials to use in a lab that has to do with genetics, making a school scrapbook and posting pictures of themselves on the "I Am Who I Am" wall which will have a photo of themselves from the use of the printer, the lights surrounding the wall and a summary of what they love to do, where they wanna be when they are older and other information on themselves. This was so kind of all of you to make this project happen and will be used time and time again over the years!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Bell

  • Virtual Reality in the Classroom!!!

    Funded Nov 26, 2020

The Oculus Quest 2 is the biggest hit of the year!!! Every kid wants one and wishes each week they be the one able to use it during our science prep time. There are games I've purchased to teach them about cells, the body and even an operation table game! During the week I assess each student and if they are on task, communicating through their work and class, they get an opportunity to use the Oculus Quest 2 for some time each week! Soon I'd love to have a complete classroom full of these for each student to be able to use and learn from the 3D environmental world in which was created. Thank you again for all your help and generosity!!!”

  • Tech to Help Teach!

    Funded May 7, 2020

I'm so grateful to have gotten this laptop for my classroom/home to use during these times!!! Since last March we have been in and out of the school and I've been teaching through the computer using a program called TEAMS which is wonderful. This laptop and the accessories has mad my life and my children's lives much easier! There are so many options to use on the laptop such as screen sharing, lab reports, drawing right on the screen, etc. in order to teach to my classrooms sufficiently. Again, I'm greatly appreciative of this specific donation. Otherwise, I don't know how I would have been able to teach to my students as well during this crazy pandemic!!!”

  • Backyard Ecology Experiments!

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Wow all I can say is WOW!!! Since this crazy pandemic started, most of the teaching time I've had with my students has been at home. The materials I received have already been put to use such as the hummingbird feeder, the seeds for the garden as I teach my students ecology and the environment, the grass grower to show and use experiments with the chemicals, and many other items used to show my students how growing a garden relates to all the sciences. I can't wait to use the bee hives and have the kids exam, through the computer only of course, the way the bee's move and work all together! And now I'm able to print at home with the cartridges of class attendance and other things necessary for my classroom. Thank you again...this is a wonderful help and I'm so lucky to have this donation!”

  • Studying the Cells of Life

    Funded Sep 18, 2019

Thank you so much for your support on helping us get these simple necessary items for a middle school science classroom! The students absolutely love looking at the microscopic slides and we've already done 3 different projects with them! The students enjoy learning using hands on materials. Also, having tissues during the flu season is especially important and hand sanitizer as well. The magnetic hall passes have been a life saver because I was using plain paper to write hall and bathroom passes daily, wasting paper even though we recycle. Thank you again for all your help and the kids said you are all super awesome!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Bell

  • Heading for Greatness

    Funded Apr 24, 2019

Thank you again for all your support with the headphones for my classroom!!! The headphones allow the students to listen to biology, chemistry and physical science lessons and non fiction stories while not disturbing the rest of the class. Also, I've been using meditation to learn about mindfulness in the classroom and sometimes a student needs to relax from stresses at home or at school and they will listen quietly to soothing music without words to focus and relax.

Each student is very grateful for the headphones and happy to have them!”

  • The Basics of the Classroom are Essential

    Funded Dec 13, 2018

This is magnificent getting to use a large white board in the classroom finally!!!! There is so much material I need to explain on the boards yet the one that is in the classroom is too small to get enough of the information out to the students, so this new white board is a blessing!

This saves time, which equals more learning, for the children to receive the knowledge I can offer them. And the passes are awesome for the students instead of writing out and wasting paper on a daily basis!!! Thank you again so much for your support, care and understanding.”

  • To Hear and See the Other World!

    Funded Apr 21, 2018

All I can say is wow!!! This small portable microscope has been nothing but fun and educational for my students! I allow them to use on their Chromebooks to analyze and discover microscopic things such as their skin cells, hair tissue, different papers and other things.

And the headphones have been excellent for discovering the sounds of different types of animals as we explore our natural world. The sights and sounds found using these materials have opened up another dimension for my children.

Thank you so much again for all of your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

  • Wind Power: Infinite Potential Project

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for your generosity!!! These resources will allow my students to perform many mini lab activities seeing how wind power, solar power and hydroelectric power can create energy. I took a professional development class a few months ago on wind energy and how it can save the state of CT lots of money so hopefully my students will learn about this clean efficient way to produce electricity. I can't wait to get these projects started!!!

Again, thank you for all of your help in our classroom where it is much needed!”

  • Finishing Touches

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

This is great! I now have storage space to finish up a project called "create a baby" and take more pictures of my students performing experiments! And now I have the wire to connect my personal blu ray drive to my computer to watch science movies and videos I've had in the past for science fair projects. And the seeds for growing plants will be excellent for the ecology and the environment section of science that we have begun. I can't wait for the rest of the materials to show up because I know the students will be super excited.

Thank you again for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Bell

We are a Title 1 school, meaning that if our children do not pass over a certain score level on the Connecticut Mastery Testing, the state could take over and many teachers' jobs will be at stake. Our students want us to give them the answers instead of using scientific inquiry and finding information out for themselves through the use of books and computer technology. I had an old laptop of mine that I allowed the students to use in class while working and noticed that the students began to find information out themselves, allowing more time for the students to engage in creativity. This also freed up time for me to check and monitor their projects and lab reports. Unfortunately, my laptop that was ten years old finally stopped working, and it was too slow processing information in the first place. I love my students and want them to succeed not only in school, but in life...to follow their dreams!
