DC Trip!
Funded Sep 15, 2014My students were very grateful for the donations. After our trip, many of them spoke about what they took away from the trip. One student exclaimed, "Now I know our government really exists and isn't just some made up place." Another said, "To stand on the very battle ground where many Americans lost their lives to move us further toward freedom is truly a powerful experience."
Thank you for your generous donation. Your contribution allowed all my students the opportunity to attend this field trip. Before donors choose funding, the cost of our trip to NY/DC for families was $1100. After receiving contributions, families were only responsible for paying $450 making the trip more affordable and allowing 100% participation!
The impact of our trip to NY/DC with regards to student learning is lifelong. How many of you remember a big class trip? Exactly. The ability to connect with subjects such as immigration, Gettysburg, and our 3 branches of government to name a few, is not only powerful, but incredibly powerful. Rather than just reading about the Statue of Liberty or a Civil War battle, students connect their learning from inside the classroom with their own experiences outside the classroom as they ride on a ferry toward Ellis Island and witness firsthand a war reenactment at Gettysburg. This trip was indeed memorable. Thanks again!”

Supplies!!!
Funded Apr 7, 2011Thank you once again for your generous donation. I'm so happy that my students now have the supplies they need to add color and detail to their projects. Also, the white board markers have really helped me out since we have spent the last two weeks preparing for the California Standardized Test (CST). With added colors, I can now point out specific things to my students on the board helping them visualize much better. In addition, extra pencils have really added to my instructional time since I do not have to wait for students to look for or sharpen pencils. Thanks again. ”

Funded Nov 29, 2010Thank you once again for your generous donation. Having these books for my class has really benefited class room instruction in so many ways. With our books, Gregor the Overlander, students not only enjoyed a fun filled adventure book, but also learned about setting, character traits, cause and effect, and writing a hook to draw the audience in. We were able to extend activities into writing detail paragraphs, creating our own character, predict and check, and finally a book report summarizing the wild adventure. Thanks again!”
