All of our students want to learn and reach their full potential! My students will be the first group of students to attend our new site in Perris. The community has been waiting for a new charter in their neighborhood for a very long time. Our families have been searching for a school that will teach their children independence and that will give them the tools to succeed in life. We focus on personalized learning, by giving our students a voice and choice in how they learn. We have sent out "supply recommendations" to our families, but most will be unable to afford those supplies. That is why I like to do community supplies so all students have access to them. As you can see, most of the supplies are basic supplies, including pencils, glue dots, Expo dry erase markers, Crayola multicultural crayons, lapboards, and Elmer's glue sticks. I have also included books on my list. The read alouds that I share with my class always center on a social skill lesson or core value. We use a program called, "BoysTown" to teach certain social skills that allow students to better communicate and be successful. Some requesting books are Interrupting Chicken, Lying Up a Storm, and The Day the Crayons Quit. Some other supplies are geared towards organizing their work. Organization is key to success! The trifold folders will be used to track their own data (spelling, math facts, reading level, etc.) These organization supplies will help them set goals, and track their learning. The cube bookshelves will be used to store student book bins. In each book bin, students will keep their WIP (work in progress) folder, good fit books, as well as other curricula. Keeping all supplies in a book bin will cut down on transitioning time and expand our instructional time (teaching time). Thank you so much for considering our project! We appreciate it so very much!!!
