• New Books That Will Encourage Reading

  Thank you so much for your generous donation to purchase this new series of books called Urban Underground. Sometimes it is difficult to find books that student like to read and are also well written books. I am very glad to say that with this new series I can recommend these books and the students are enjoying reading them.

  We were also able to purchase some other books that are very popular with our students.

  Literacy is a high priority at our school and our teachers set reading goals for each student. Having these books available has helped our students meet their reading goals and also improve their reading skills.

• The Civil War Comes Alive

  Thank you so much for the materials that will help The Civil War to Come Alive. These books will be used to write a research project on the Civil War. The books will help with writing about important people and events that took place during the war.

  Our project, Going Green, has been funded and the books have arrived. We have an ECO Club and they are excited to read more about Going Green and the important issues of protecting our environment.

• Well Loved and Worn Out

  Thank you so much for helping our Media Center maintain a high quality of books that are available to our students. Often the favorite books are worn out and have to be withdrawn. Your donation has helped to replace these well loved books.

  Already some of the books have been checked out and the students are reading them. Our teachers set reading goals each grading period. Having the best books available help the students meet their reading goals and improve their literacy skills. Thank you again for all you do for our students.”

• Football Superstars and Super Bowl Series

  Thank you very much for your donations that purchased the sports books for our Media Center. Already the books have been checked out by our students. Reading and literacy is a high priority at our school. It has always been a challenge to get middle school boys to read. These books about Super Bowl teams and players will help encourage our boys to read.

• Award Winning Books Wanted

  Thank you very much for your donations of the award winning books through DonorsChoose. Literacy is a very high priority at our school. Our literature teachers require reading goals be met in each class. Your donated books will help our students meet their classroom goals.

• Young Hoosier Books Needed - Part Two

  Funded Feb 14, 2011

  Thank you very much for your donation of Young Hoosier Award nominated books. These are 20 titles that we feature each year in a special display in our media center. They are books chosen by the Indiana Library Federation.

  Each year we have a special Subway lunch to reward students who have read at least 5 of these books. During the lunch we discuss our favorite books and the students vote on their favorite book from this group. Votes are tallied from all over Indiana and a special award is given to the author of the favorite book.

  Because of your generosity the Young Hoosier Books will again be available for our students to read. Thank you very much for your donations.”
