All of my students will complete a series of inquiry-based science experiments around natural disasters such as floods & drought and their effects on farming. This will help students understand the need for alternative ways to grow food. The students will then understand the life cycle of plants and fish as it relates to aquaponics. They will begin to understand what it takes for plants and fish to survive. The students will be using their .5 gallon tanks to do inquiry-based experiments to understand how fish and plants work together to produce food. Using mathematics to complete all required calculations. They will create businesses using the mathematics calculations to upscale productivity and look at alternate methods for small spaces. They will end the year planning they're the business model for aquaponics.
