Often times, my first and second graders fidget during classroom instruction or work time. Quite frequently, they wiggle in their seats, become antsy, and are unable to concentrate. To re-focus my students, I have been slowly implementing flexible seating in my classroom. From sitting on the floor with scoop chairs, to using wobble stools, to a standing desk, students are able to choose how they want to learn and work, which increases intrinsic motivation and productivity. My project is requesting additional flexible seating options in my classroom. I am requesting additional stools and lap desks for students to work on the floor. My goal is to help students focus and concentrate more.
