  • Hygiene & Nursing in Small Rural High School

    Funded Oct 3, 2023

My students have steady access to everyday hygiene items thanks to your generous donation! My female students don't have to feel awkward to come asking for tampons or pads or panty liners- they can just grab and go. Students don't have to feel embarrassed when they forgot or need deodorant or a toothbrush because they are readily available, even when I may not be in my office. I have created an additional project to help create ample and additional supplies for my students, if you have the ability to help out again! Thank you again for your selfless donation to help my high schoolers!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brown

  • Ready, Set, Play!

    Funded Sep 23, 2022

The games have been a huge hit for our students. Some have been placed in our library for students to enjoy during their free time. The students have enjoyed playing all of them. The tic-tac-toe board and the connect four board are a crowd pleaser! The cornhole set allows for those from different backgrounds to come together in sportsmanship and to have fun with each other, building friendships!

THANK YOU for supporting our school and allowing our students an additional outlet to use! This would not be possible without your love and donations!

    THANK YOU!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brown

  • Treating Injuries- Body and Mind

    Funded Dec 24, 2021

Thank you so much for your love for my students here. The large ziplock bags help me to treat injuries as soon as they happen. The thermometer is a wonderful quick tool that has been added to my "go" bag for the ability to check temperatures in an instant. The hand sanitizer also helps to keep my hands from cracking, as much as I am washing and sanitizing them- the extra moisturizer goes a long way. The eye wash helps those with foreign bodies to the eye and I am able to help keep a sterile eye wash system in place. The kinesiology tape helps to keep my athletes in best shape and ready for the next pitch, kick or swing. The LED lights are a wonderful addition and I keep them all over. The scissors are a necessity for any nurse and have been added to my "go" bag as well. Thank you so much for your generosity and your love for my students!”

  • Emergency Nursing in the High School Setting

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so very much for your generous donation to my students. The cart is in a perfect place for quick grabs as needed. The storage bins help to keep the snacks and water bottles organized. The bedside table is wonderful when I need a portable table to help take care of a student's needs around my office/in the hall. The rolling cart outside my door provides unlimited access to every day needs here (tampons, pads, tissues, deodorant, masks, hand sanitizer, lip balm, etc). It is a huge hit and has helped many students already! They love it. The height marker helps those who need an accurate height for military recruitment and for just general curiosity. The cups help my students stay hydrated when they forget a water bottle. The ice/heat packs are a HUGE hit. I have many students that don't want to or can't go home when their menstrual cycle hits and the ability to give them a heat pack helps to not only keep them in class, but helps take some of the pain away while they are here. The ice packs are widely used for injuries and help to manage the smaller injuries/pain while students are here. I am able to keep them in ziplock bags when given to students and am able to wipe them in between uses to help treat injuries/pain over and over again. The large pack of stress balls was given to the guidance office and the smaller pack was left with me- helping to reach all the students that we can. The ear curettes also help to treat some things with the ear canal here that some students aren't able to at home. The dental wax is a huge hit and I have had multiple students in need for those. The anti-choking device (thankfully) hasn't been used yet, but it is a FANTASTIC addition to the tools I keep in cases of emergency. Thank you again for your love for my students.”

  • Warm, Hydrated & Full

    Funded Dec 17, 2021

Thank you so much again for your generous donation in helping my students! The slim jims and protein bars/snacks are especially for my diabetics, for when they need a snack to help curb hunger but it doesn't raise their blood sugar all that much. The other snacks go to all students who need them- whether they arrived to school late and didn't get breakfast or they need a snack to help get them through the day- they are well received and loved! The propel drink mixes help my students stay hydrated and encourage them to drink water when they need an extra nudge to do so. The lotion helps those with dry, itching skin to help stay in class instead of needing to go home for treatment. The pocket tissues and deodorant are WIDELY used and are a major need here. The leggings have also been a huge help for students in a time of need- allowing them to stay at school when they have a mishap. Thank you so much for helping my students stay in school and flourish while they are here.”

  • Fueled & Focused

    Funded Dec 5, 2021

Thank you so much again for your generosity in supporting the care and love that can be given to my students. The electrolyte drink mix packets have helped those who were potentially dehydrated (especially our athletes). The packets encourage them to drink water and stay hydrated. The hair ties have been given out when necessary and have been much appreciated by the students and even a couple staff members in a pinch. The snacks help to keep students in school who may have arrived late and didn't get to eat breakfast or my diabetic students when they need a snack to keep their blood sugar in a normal range. The students are excited to know that they have options when snacks are needed. The posters have added some color and inspiration to my office. Thank you so much again for your generous donations in helping my students!”

  • School Nursing Supplies

    Funded Nov 28, 2020

Thank you again for your very generous donation to our high school. My students, staff and fellow nurses at the other schools have benefitted from supplies that were donated. I make sure to tell them where it came from and how blessed we are to have been on the receiving end of your kindness for a second time.

The shelving unit and storage containers were placed in the bathroom in my office, where I placed most of the materials received. I also placed products that are frequently requested there as well and its where my female students can come and go as needed for supplies they need. I have been able to store my supplies more efficiently thanks to these shelves, drawers and baskets. The students have made sure to tell me every time they walk in how "nice" and "organized" everything is and that they love the new set-up. I have also used some of the baskets and had them filled with supplies and placed in the girls' restrooms with signs saying to bring them back to me for a refill when empty. I have had to fill the baskets multiple times now and it allows those students that frequent the basket on a day to day basis, not having to miss more class time having to go back and forth from the bathroom to the health room for supplies needed.

The shelving unit will continue to be stocked with supplies donated from you and students will continue to benefit for quite a while just based off this one donation. The family here at BEHS is so very thankful for your continued support and for your donations, as some of these items are quite necessary in the daily life of my students. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart! You are appreciated more than you know!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brown

  • Emergency Nursing in the High School Setting

    Funded Sep 16, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity in giving to our school. I started here as the school nurse in 2018 and came from being a full time emergency room nurse. I had plenty of band-aids, but I lacked the resources to provide the nursing care that I potentially could. Between the hand sanitizer and the emergency bag, I have been able to really care for my students when needed.

My favorite piece received is the emergency bag. I have used it on the sidelines during football season where I have wrapped many sprains and splinted a couple potential breaks (splinting materials were another generous donation). I have also used it here in the school when students have passed out in the hallways or had seizures in the classroom. I have been able to perform the necessary assessments, including blood pressure while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. It is so nice knowing I don't have to take loads of my time to grab potentially needed items that are scattered all around my room- I have my bag that is fully stocked with anything and everything I could need to help save a life.

My students and my staff have been pleased and are so happy with our new additions to my supplies, knowing that I have the necessary tools to provide the best care that I can. My fellow nurses at the other schools have been slightly jealous and luckily we were able to get them something similar to have in their offices in cases of emergencies. I have used my anatomy posters to give my office some color and many students and staff, even parents, take the time to examine them closely while in my office. They have been a great teaching tool for me to help educate these students, staff and parents that I encounter.

We are sincerely thankful and grateful for everything provided and the amazing opportunities it gives me as a school nurse, allowing me to still be the best emergency nurse I can here. Thank you again so, so, SO much for giving to our small community school! Our community is thankful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Brown

These students are from a small town community and are so willing to help each other when needed. They bend over backwards for each other. They are smart, caring and capable individuals who deserve the world. However, some of them are lacking the means to do so. The staff at BEHS are here to provide every means available to us to help them succeed in their every endeavor! We love these students and this school is more like a family! While I am the School Nurse, not a teacher, I am also an Emergency Room Nurse. I encounter frequent nosebleeds, fractures, sickness and other injuries everyday. I encounter many students on a day to day basis, teaching about asthma, diabetes and many other common health care concerns such as injuries/fractures and nosebleeds.
