Funded Sep 16, 2019Thank you so much for your generosity in giving to our school. I started here as the school nurse in 2018 and came from being a full time emergency room nurse. I had plenty of band-aids, but I lacked the resources to provide the nursing care that I potentially could. Between the hand sanitizer and the emergency bag, I have been able to really care for my students when needed.
My favorite piece received is the emergency bag. I have used it on the sidelines during football season where I have wrapped many sprains and splinted a couple potential breaks (splinting materials were another generous donation). I have also used it here in the school when students have passed out in the hallways or had seizures in the classroom. I have been able to perform the necessary assessments, including blood pressure while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. It is so nice knowing I don't have to take loads of my time to grab potentially needed items that are scattered all around my room- I have my bag that is fully stocked with anything and everything I could need to help save a life.
My students and my staff have been pleased and are so happy with our new additions to my supplies, knowing that I have the necessary tools to provide the best care that I can. My fellow nurses at the other schools have been slightly jealous and luckily we were able to get them something similar to have in their offices in cases of emergencies. I have used my anatomy posters to give my office some color and many students and staff, even parents, take the time to examine them closely while in my office. They have been a great teaching tool for me to help educate these students, staff and parents that I encounter.
We are sincerely thankful and grateful for everything provided and the amazing opportunities it gives me as a school nurse, allowing me to still be the best emergency nurse I can here. Thank you again so, so, SO much for giving to our small community school! Our community is thankful!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Brown
