The Bellaire High School Robotics Club participates in the various elements of robotics which lead to invaluable STEM experiences. In past years, the Robotics Club has participated in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and VEX Robotics Competitions, both of which are worldwide robotics organizations that include thousands of teams and hundreds of thousands of students. This year, the Robotics team is in need of support to fund robotics equipment as they prepare for two major competitions - FIRST and VEX. Building a robot is a multi-step, cooperative effort and for the First Robotics Competition, my student's design, build, program, and wire a 120 lb robot with a roughly 2' by 3' base to compete in the current year's challenges. These challenges can range from shooting flying discs into goals to lifting the heavy robot a foot into the air with limited supports. The entire process can be incredibly daunting, but the robotics team works together to create gearboxes, machine parts, program autonomous sequences, use 3D modeling, and more. This year, the Robotics team looks forward to learning about and using parts like pneumatics valves and encoders, parts they have never before used on a robot. Please help contribute to creating a project-based, unique experience for all of my students involved in the Robotics Club, allowing them to go above and beyond what they thought was possible.
