My English Language Learners will write stories, poems, posters, letters, and design room decorations to tell about their family culture. The stories they have to tell need to be written in a binder for their memories. Once they have create a memory in writing they will make a presentation for their classmates in the form of a story board, a letter big enough to share, poems that capture their history or their relatives history, or perhaps a decoration for our room wall or door that will inspire others! Students often need help to tap into their creative minds. Stickers will help them be more creative or express themselves when they cannot find the right words. Younger students will use stickers and limited words. Colored markers help to stimulate creativity. Students will draw when they do not know exactly how to express themselves. Others get meaning from their art, as well as, writings! Developing my English Language Learners into productive citizens they need to know how to express themselves. Presentation skills are developed through connecting with their memories! Several of my learners are students with special needs and are considered Exceptional Learners but with paper, makers, binders, poster boards, and stickers. They can tell their story too!
