I would like to give my students the opportunity to learn in a non-traditional way and flex seating provides this type of environment. Students will feel empowered because they will have the opportunity to choose where they work for the day within the classroom. Flex seating options also help stimulate students' sense of touch. This type of stimulation can help children focus and process information. Flexible seating makes learning fun. I have seen how my students' faces light up when they visit the other 1st-grade class that has already established flex seating. Each table will be set up to build community and collaboration. This will create an environment where students are committed to learning. Traditional desks can make students territorial or possessive over their space and supplies.
