Learning Together at Home
Funded May 5, 2020I just received my materials yesterday, and I can't believe the difference they are already making for my students. Having math charts and counters makes all the difference when teaching students with disabilities. They are looking at the screen and independently answering their own problems using the tools that I am projecting on the screen. Even my most reluctant students were racing to see if they can be the first to solve the problems. They loved having number lines, blank arrays, and a variety of tools to explain different ways to solve the same problem.
Then it was time for reading. The National Geographic book sets were incredible. My students loved the photos and fun facts about their favorite science topics. They wanted to stay after class to hear more. I can't wait for our next online lesson.
I couldn't have done this without your help. You are the reason my students my students have what they need to stay engaged during online learning.”

Funded Feb 20, 2020As I am sitting at home during the covid 19 quarantine, I have had a lot of time to reflect on how much the materials I received have made an impact on my classroom. I remember waiting until my class went home one day and then staying late to set up a brand new creative response center for them to walk into the next morning. They couldn't believe that they could use everything that was there whenever they wanted to to do their work. Several of my students who were reluctant to participate during traditional lessons started grabbing art supplies and markers before I would start my lessons. Everytime I looked over at what they were doing, I could see they were drawing pictures about the story I was reading or showing their work for the math problem that was on the board. I cannot wait to get back to my classroom to see what they will do next. Thank you so much for helping them show what they know with creativity and excitement. You have touched many lives with your donation.”

Bringing Books Home
Funded Oct 21, 2019I can't believe the difference this project has made in our classroom. Having rebus readers at a variety of levels has made it easier for my developing readers to be independent in their reading. They are so excited to have a bag of books to take home and read with their families every week. They are more engaged during our reading groups as we practice reading the books they want to share with their families. We couldn't have done it without you and your help.
Since receiving our books, every student in our class has improved in fluency because of the additional practice they are getting at home reading every day.”
