Just as each person in a group is unique with their own likes, dislikes, interests, hopes, and fears, each student in a classroom is a unique learner. These tools will allow all of my students to be ready and engaged in learning.
Visual and tactile learning supports like the classroom math calendar will help all students get involved in our daily calendar routine. This resource will also connect calendar time to the concepts of numbers and money we will be learning about in class.
Individual tools such as the wobble cushions, kick bands, and headsets will allow students to ave the sensory stimulation or protection they need to focus on their work. Other tools like phonics phones and reading trackers will be available to all students who need the extra support of hearing each word they read aloud.
Having tools available in the classroom not only will help my students be ready to learn and do their best but it will also help them learn to be independent problem solvers. Students will discover that when they are stuck they can get a tool to help them overcome their struggle. This will not only increase their achievement but also their self-confidence and esteem as learners!
