Remote Teacher Needs Remote Help!
Funded Oct 31, 2020Thank you for your donations for my remote teaching experience. The stands have been such a help while teaching and using dual screens to present my screen. I have also been taking my own courses and the screens are so helpful. It ended up I didn't need the chart paper this year but trust me I'm going to be decorating anchor charts over the summer and bringing in the extra to the school when we can go back! I LOVE the whiteboard helpers that digitize my white board. I still have to figure out all the tech involved but it looks good. Thank you for all your help!”

Flexible Seating for a Modified Classroom
Funded Sep 7, 2019Thank you so much for your contribution to our experiment in introducing flexible seating in our classroom. Originally we requested both wobble chairs and blow up chairs. Having received these items, we realized they were for elementary school children and had to return and receive alternate items. We went with the two purple wobble chairs, two wobble cushions, some stress relief toys and fidget bands for the chairs.
To say the students were excited is an understatement. When we placed the Wobble Chairs at our conference table, we were greeted with a symphony of "what are those? can we sit in them? what are they for? can I try it? Can I spin?" and so on and so forth. After having a couple of trustworthy students try it out, we placed them permanently at our conference table. Students who are conferencing one-on-one with a teacher at our conference table are able to wobble wobble wobble to their hearts content.
The fidget bands we stretched out and placed two at every table in our room. Some kids really appreciate them and rest their legs on the top. They've mentioned how it calms their restlessness at times. Other kids, of course, as always, take advantage and swing their feet across the bands. What we have said is as long as we can't hear it, they can do it. So far, students seem to really like them. They adjust them as they like, and if they don't want to use it, they just place their feet in front.
The wobble cushions and stress toys are the true stars, with students almost fighting over who gets them each day. We have two wobble cushions that are placed on random chairs and students have taken turns with them. They enjoy having something special about their chair and use the wobble to keep their writing workshops a little more comfortable. The stress toys are given out when students are restless and they have worked very well- we are working on getting some more!
Thank you so much for letting us try out flexible seating in our classroom this year. Because of you, we are able to figure out what works and what doesn't and adjust so that our students have the best learning environment we can give them.”
