Through multiple art projects this year in collaboration with Holocaust Museum Houston, students will learn how to stand up for what's right and not allow bad things to happen in their school, community, and nation. From stopping bullies to changing cultural norms, our students will use art to expose problems and create solutions. For the past 10 years, I have been fine-tuning my teaching approach to art that speaks and makes a difference to students and their communities. I feel like this year's collaboration with the museum will be key in helping students have a breakthrough in understanding the power they have to change the world. Quality ceramic glazes will highlight the students' messages in vibrant colors and outstanding textures. Throughout the year students will be showing their work in community art shows and competitions. Their work will be very visible and the glazes will make all the difference between mediocre and high quality. It will also help AP students get higher scores on their Studio Art portfolio exams. Projects students will use the glazes on include: Masks of Identity and Values; Animal Sculptures For Sustainability; Vessels For Human Rights; and Portraits of Leadership.
