We have access to the kitchens within the high school. Being able to successfully utilize those rooms with the needs of my students is not always possible. Often, my students' behavior prohibits them from being able to transition throughout the school building; having items like the stand mixer and microwave oven within my classroom will allow them to learn and participate the needed skills without having to leave our classroom. These common household items will give my students the opportunities to learning skills they will use throughout their lifetime. Having the ability to complete the prep work within our classroom will increase their independence in performing the skills.
