Young students learn best when given hands-on experiences. This type of learning keeps them engaged and makes concepts easier to grasp. Legos provide a visual and tactile element to lessons that increases participation and understanding. Legos will be used throughout the day to engage students in math, reading concepts, science, social studies, and social emotional development. Students will be given the chance to demonstrate a solution to a story problem by building the answer. They can solve addition and subtraction problems using Lego blocks as ten frames. The lessons provided by "Build Me Emotions" will provide a reference for children when they problem solving social issues throughout the day. These are just a few examples of ways Legos can enhance our daily learning! Legos can also be a tool to create a more inclusive classroom. Learners who might otherwise have difficulty communicating verbally can use a Lego build to show not only the teacher, but also their peers, what they are thinking. Our students that require more movement will have busy hands, allowing them to explore materials and stay engaged. ESL students have a concrete examples to increase vocabulary and understanding. Legos are useful tool for every learner!
