From stoichiometry calculations to observing cells under their foldscopes from home, many students found that apps on their computers or phones just didn't work as effectively as writing by hand during this year of virtual learning, so I searched for a solution that could fuse the handwritten with the virtual world. Teaching during the pandemic has highlighted how technology can be optimized to meet student's learning needs, and Rocketbooks are an effective way to do that for my students. Rocketbooks allow students the flexibility to write by hand when typing isn't the ideal platform. Students then scan their work to a digital destination of their choosing using a QR code, which keeps their work easily accessible and organized. Providing a Rocketbook for each student will allow them to engage with designing their own experiments, and collecting their own data in ways that best meet their needs from home or at school while eliminating the use of paper. Because students can scan and digitize their work, then erase, these books can be reused throughout the year and with students for years into the future.
