This project will make a huge difference by enhancing and bringing equity into my students’ learning environment. It will bring about meaningful interactions that will push students to new heights and levels of achievement by promoting both independent work and teamwork. With collaboration with other students in the classroom and with students on-line, it enhances student communication skills, creativity, and problem-solving. Activities/lessons with the Chromebook can become social activities in a PLC environment in itself. The Independent work time will allow for more practice with on-line exercises and on-line repeatable self-assessments in SOL format. When computer laboratory access is not available or there are not enough laptop carts to go around to align with activities needed for the content, it will allow me to plan for equal access/opportunity to associated technology in the classroom to support the lesson. Among the direct benefits of using chrome books in the mathematics classroom which adds to student learning is that this will help the teacher accomplish the course objectives by allowing students to learn by doing. They will be able to use and manipulate graphs, models, and other diagrams to increase critical thinking skills, analysis, scientific inquiry, active engagement, interaction, and connection to the real world. Accessing technology with the use of Chromebooks is a means of accessing resources and information in a manner that suits the learning style of today’s students. This helps to accommodate the different learning styles and will provide for new learning experiences. Students will be able to access mathematical software too numerous to name and they can even access their own personal YouTube tutor.
