I want to create a safe, peaceful, and comfortable space for my students. Many students come to my office when they are stressed or overwhelmed and I provide them with a space to relax and process. Many of my students have anxiety/ depression or are struggling with ADD/ learning disabilities. I would love to provide them with unique tools, like the yoga ball, balance chair, or fidget toys, to address their sensory needs. Many of my students only eat at school and I want to provide them nourishment as well. My students are deserving of comfort and support. They may not get a lot of that outside of school and I want them to experience those things in my care. Some of them are so dysregulated that they are unable to return to the classroom once they are upset. I provide them a safe space to decompress and then attempt to get work done. They enjoy the wobble stool and ball chair as they work through big emotions and try to get back on track. Many of them leave my care with a fidget toy (or two) and a snack.
