I specialize in helping kids to communicate to meet their own needs, interact with caregivers, and interact with people at school. I am requesting materials that will help increase student engagement, participation, and interactions given the current social distancing and mask guidelines...and beyond.
The projector and pull-down screen is my #1 request:
To help increase student participation and movement while learning, I have been wanting to utilize a projector in my speech room. After my students were online for COVID, they have really enjoyed using technology to learn. I would like to use a project in my room to open up the possibilities of using specific programs on the internet (i.e. Boom Cards or interactive digital stories) to help promote excitement while working on speech, language, and fluency skills. I work at many schools and in many classrooms and I would like a small enough projector and portable screen, so I can travel with it.
The color printer is my #2 request.
I print picture vocabulary for students who require augmentative or alternative communication, such as PECS or CORE boards. I can print multiple copies so students can communicate at both school and home without losing them in transit. I do not have a color printer, and it makes it difficult to get access to the students. I can send these materials home, as well.
My Project
The items selected will help meet NV ELASCS 7.0/8.0. Students will be able to increase early language skills necessary for classroom participation by practicing requesting, expanding utterances, using descriptive words, and answering questions, among other language skills with the use of toys.
All toys are easy to sanitize between sessions, providing COVID safe play.
