The environment in which a student learns must be one that creates a feeling of contentment and happiness. The materials selected, including storage units and games, will be utilized to enhance the décor of my special education space. Learning games such as scrabble will be very useful in my classroom as it serves the purpose of building my students vocabulary in a fun way while utilizing critical thinking. My students tend to become frustrated when tasks, especially in ELA, appears to be too rigorous and mundane. Having the resources to diversify teaching methodology as well as engaging learners will no doubt contribute to their academic success. Additionally, my students need constant reminders and validations of their ability to succeed. Including the posters with motivational and inspiring messages will serve the purpose of continuously reinforcing what I already know, which is that they can definitely achieve their goals. I want my classroom to be a positive and happy place. So much so that they think of it as an escape. Students learn best in an organized and aesthetically appealing environment. The organizers etc. will be utilized to contribute to the overall flow and organization of the classroom. It is difficult to learn in a chaotic environment and students also treasure the feeling of knowing that their basic needs are being met. I also consider it my responsibility to ensure that my classroom is perceived as that happy space where students are encouraged to be themselves.
